About Search Kindly
Search Kindly is an Illinois-based Not-for-Profit corporation. Our goal is to raise money for charity by promoting the idea of micro-volunteerism. Because thousands of micro-volunteers choose to access Google Search through this site instead of any other, Search Kindly has been able to donate thousands of dollars to dozens of deserving charitable organizations.
About the Staff
Sofia Garcia - Charity Relations Volunteer
As the Charity Relations Volunteer, Sofia organizes the charities suggested for inclusion on the polls. She is responsible for contacting each charity to let them know when they will appear on the polls. She got involved with Search Kindly about 6 months after inception but has been using the site since its first month. If you search hard enough, you can find her on a video segment about Search Kindly that was taped for the Northwestern News. She is a graduate student at Northwestern University and will hopefully graduate very soon.
Shannon Green - Theoretical Director
Shannon is the third founding director of Search Kindly and came upon that role by the begging and groveling of her dear old chum, Syed. Though she doesn't really do all that much-hence the title of Theoretical Director--Search Kindly could legally not exist without her. In her day job she does triple-duty as the Director of First Impressions, Promotions Assistant, and Voice-Over Extraordinaire at Chicago's very own Q101 and The Loop .
Ramadev Hukkeri - Technical Director
Ramadev is Search Kindly's technical guru. It is his talent and ability that you see day in and day out. When he's not merrily typing away at some new code for Search Kindly's backend, Ramadev gets to play with all kinds of crazy-neat stuff as a research engineer at Caterpillar. In his downtime, Ramadev likes to sit down, lean back, and get some more work done. Ramadev has a master's degree in mechanical engineering / controls and robotics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Syed Karim - Executive Director
Syed is the little man behind the curtain. He didn't actually build the machine, he just pulls the strings and levers to make it buzz and whistle. Search Kindly was originally a part of Syed's senior thesis at Lake Forest College--which he failed to defend. Syed would like to take this time to point out, however, that of all of the the theses ever submitted at Lake Forest College, his is the only one that was covered in the Wall Street Journal. But he's not bitter. Syed is currently finishing his master's degree in Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was recently hired by the the international design and innovation consultancy, IDEO.
Kris Ostergard - Technical Operations Volunteer
As Technical Operations Volunteer, Kris works on various projects and
technologies that aid SearchKindly in achieving it's primary goals. He
is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of various
special projects (such as the Facebook Application ), as well as
assisting the rest of the Volunteers with their projects. Kris is an
undergraduate student at Christopher Newport University in Newport
News, Virginia where he is earning a degree in Information Sciences.
