Quick Note About True And Answers To Questions

Sunday, January 28, 2007 at 11:11:26 AM

(See below for update at 5:26pm)

Just to let everyone know, I just changed the survey from Johnnie Walker/Free Movie Ticket to the one with True.com.  Supposedly, all you have to do is create a profile at True.com (as long as it's done through the link on Search Kindly) and you will raise $4.50.  That's actually not a bad deal--especially since you can easily just copy and paste information that you already have on Facebook or MySpace (or, if you're a bit behind the times, Friendster).

I've never been on True.com, so I can't really say what the process of filling out a profile is like--but I can't imagine it's all that bad.  If it is, please let me know and I'll pull that survey and find something else.  The Crest White Strips one seemed to do really well.  Though I personally thought the Crest-survey was obscenely long, the payout-rate was by far the highest of any of the surveys that we've used so far.  By payout-rate, I mean the number of people who clicked on the link versus the number of people who jumped through the hoops long enough for us to get credited the 85-cents.  The Crest-rate was about 33%, whereas most of the others were around 10%.

Please be sure to check back on the blog later on tonight, because I'm going to be answering a couple of important questions as soon as I take care of some things.

I just pulled the Johnnie Walker survey because the conversion rate was about 5%--pretty pathetic.  As an fyi, a conversion rate is the percentage of clicks that pan out into completely filled out surveys, which is what we need in order to get paid.  So Johnnie got replaced with a survey from Ipsos.  And so everyone knows, I did in fact try this out before setting up the link. Unlike the other surveys that we've linked to in the past, this is for an actual market research firm.  You can even do some googling and see that they publish reports and perform legitimate research--which is a lot more that I can say about the other companies that we were working with.

The survey is approximately 5 minutes in length and they are basically limiting the questions to stuff that you do and the things that you own.  They also ask about some personal information, which I refused to enter correctly; I don't mind that they know about my habits, but they really don't need to know my home address and date of birth.  The incentive for people to use this site is that it offers respondents chances to win a prize for every survey they fill out.  Whether they actually pay those prizes out, I can't say, but I can say that the survey that I took was much less painful than all of the others that I had to endure.  And it was really just 5 minutes in length--like they claimed that it would be.  I like it when websites are honest.
