Donate to charity by watching a video? Yes, it really is that easy. If you scroll all the way to bottom of any page on Search Kindly, you'll find a video player that is hosted by MetaCafe.com. The purpose of this video is to both mildly amuse you and to also raise money for charity. MetaCafe offers a program for video creators that lets them earn money just by having lots and lots of people view the videos hosted on their site. Of course, there are some details to be discussed, but all in all, it seems like a pretty good little deal.
Basically, we will be earning $5 for Search Kindly for every 1000 times that the video is seen by anyone. The only catch to this is that the video has to be viewed a minimum of 20,000 times. But if that does happen, well, that's an easy $100 for one of our deserving charities. I think this is a lot better than the Edge contest that I talked about a couple weeks ago because we're not competing with anyone but ourselves. All we have to do is make sure that we pass on the link to either Search Kindly or the link to the video to as many people that we know. Oh yeah, almost forgot--the video has to be rated higher than 3-stars. If the average rating is less than that, then we get nothing.
So there it is there. The latest call to action. Matt and Gail had mentioned some good ideas about everyone writing Oprah and Ellen, but we're still working on a way to make it easy for you all to send those emails straight from this site, instead of having to go back to your own email accounts to send them. We're kind of bogged down with some other stuff right now, but once the email form is up and ready, I'll be sure to let you all know.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this stuff. And sorry about the video being a little on the cheesy-side.
