Ok, so I have a bunch of things to go over today, so please forgive me if I sound a little dull, drab, and/or curt. And it being 2am probably isn't helping matters any. But anyway...
First things first--I just updated the Proof of Giving page to reflect two new cleared checks. Please see for yourself right here.
Next in line is a quick note about our final response to the IRS letter for clarification. Our lawyer finished the response last week, I reviewed, signed it, and stuck it in the mail. Being that we are dealing directly with an individual reviewer at the IRS now, we will be hearing back from them relatively soon. The response contained a very strong, cogent argument which I feel very cleary describes what it is that we are doing and why we deserve to be recognized for our efforts. I'll be sure to post the document once this is all said and done.
While we're talking about our tax-exempt application we should also talk about Buy Kindly--and why it is no longer a part of Search Kindly. In a nutshell, the IRS felt that Buy Kindly bordered on the operation of a business, which is something that they can not grant tax-exempt status for. So under advice of our legal counsel, we decided to completely remove Buy Kindly from the site. Though we had big hopes for it, Buy Kindly never really materialized into the revenue-generator that we had hoped for--so it's not like we are at a huge loss.
Moving right along...until we can get our weekly donations up to a respectable level, we are going to have to drop the number of organizations per poll to four from six. This only makes sense, right?
How it Works. Erg. I'm still working on a much clearer explanation of this. It's really very simple, but I do understand that we need to have a much better way of communicating this to everyone. If anyone out there has a good understanding of How It Works, please feel free to submit an overview and I'll be sure to post it. If I don't receive anything in the next few days, I'll make the time to work on it myself.
