A couple of weeks ago I asked if anyone might be able to put together a little FAQ explaining how Search Kindly works. Well, Abigail was kind enough to send me the following. I'll be sure to incorporate this into one of the other pages after it's been here for a few days.

**********

In a nutshell, Search Kindly works by collecting money from ad revenue and forwarding it to charities. What this means is that every time someone visits searchkindly.org or any of the subpages of the site (e.g. blog, comment wall, about us), the site earns a little bit of money to forward to charity.

How does the advertising work?
Lots of companies want to attract more customers by putting out ads. To do this, they do business with what’s called an ad network, in this case a company called Blue Lithium. The individual companies pay Blue Lithium to show the ads to as many people as possible on different web sites around the internet. In other words, Blue Lithium, an advertising network, earns money for showing ads on a variety of websites, including Search Kindly.
How does this advertising help Search Kindly?
Blue Lithium, the ad network, pays Search Kindly to be allowed to show ads on this site. What this means is that every time someone visits searchkindly.org, Blue Lithium posts some ads and pays Search Kindly about 1/3 cents for the privilege of displaying those ads.
How does Search Kindly donate this money to charity?
All the 1/3 cents raised from the advertising add up, and after a few months Blue Lithium sends a payment to Search Kindly. Syed then writes out checks for the individual charities, based on how much they earned in the polls. When the checks clear, he posts proof on the “Proof of Giving” page.
So, what exactly do I have to do to earn money for charity with Search Kindly?
All you have to do is visit any page or subpage (blog, proof of giving, voting results, etc.) of Search Kindly. For example, if you visit the home page of Search Kindly (www.searchkindly.org), you have already raised 1/3 of a cent for charity. If you vote for a charity, you are forwarded to the “results” page, where you see new ads (and, of course, the voting results). This generates another 1/3 cent for charity. So you can earn 2/3 cents for charity just by visiting the site and voting.
Basically, any time you visit any page on searchkindly.org and see the ads, you have raised about 1/3 of a cent for charity.
