Thanks for your work! I think this will be big someday- hopefully you can eventually set up the 'mechanism' to have 'back' return to your homepage instead of google. [I don't know how.]
Perhaps you would consider a slightly different angle in your new charity work- i.e., fund a publishing organization in Africa (in partnership with a school, I suppose) to print books there, which would be written by people in Africa and be relevant to their needs and about their issues and interests. By the way, the idea from my last two posts is one I've had for awhile and forgot to post it. I read the new blog afterwards. It looks like you guys had the same idea. :)

I got this idea from the HP Alliance, who did the same thing a few months ago, and they had a huge success with it. www.thehpalliance.org
I'm sure the staff would be glad to give a few tips on organizing a book drive. They are also an online-based non-profit that has members worldwide and gives to different charity projects along with having their own.
The books they collected went to ASYV (http://www.agahozo-shalom.org/) in Rwanda.

If we find a group of people from the U.S who are going to that country soon, we could talk to them and if they are willing, we can set up a book drive.Everybody could gather up their used books or buy new ones if they can, and send them to a P.O box, & then that group can take the books with them and donate them to a local library or school in the country they're going to.

I think the new poll is good, but unless you can find bona fide partner ngos in teh countries that might be recipients, no amount of $$$ will do any good.
Often, Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (even when there is no Peace Corps in a country) know of people doing good things.
In Africa, the very small International Primate Protection League (headquartered in the USA), supports environmental education for children in the most remote areas. They are worth checking out.

Hey, I just noticed you wrote a new blog a few days ago, but the NYT video is still the one on the front page
--Thanks. I just changed that so it should be appearing on the front page now. --Syed

The New York Times produced a video about child sponsorship. This might lend some insight to SK's decision to sponsor a child.
