I think what you are doing is wonderful. I have Lupus and Fibromyalgia and seeing you supporting the Alliance for Lupus Research is so uplifting.
Thank you :)

I would like to suggest including the non-profit organization "Corazon de Vida" (www.corazondevida.org). The foundation raises money/donations and has weekly volunteer trips to orphanages in Baja, Mexico. Many of these orphanages have unbelievably poor living conditions and receive no financial support (or much support of any kind) from the Mexican government. Please consider helping to support this organziation and more importantly - consider helping out in person! Thanks.

Sorry if you've already covered this, but how exactly do the polls/voting process work? I kinda lost track back when we were trying out all the different ways...

--Well, we have three preliminary polls each month. The top two charities from those polls go on to the final poll which runs during the last week of the month. And the winner of the final poll is the winner of the money that is raised in the following month. --Syed

Something to think about:
October is actually Lupus Awareness Month!
How fitting if ALR won.
100% goes to research.

I think it would be awesome if SK could put Covenant House on the poll.

Covenant House is the largest privately funded nonprofit agency in North and Central America providing shelter and other services to homeless, runaway and throwaway youth.

Okay -- if a group is logging in just to vote for their charity to win -- then we are getting more traffic. Which is obvious this month with the thermometer being almost 1/2 way to our goal and it's only 10 days in. But, "winning the race" won't get them the high dollars we are earningthis month for their chairty. They need to continue & come back next month to help earn the dollars they want for their charity or all their effort to "win the race" won't pay off the way they are expecting.

Hopefully, by a new group of people coming on to vote for their charity they will get hooked on the SearchKindly idea and stick around for the long haul.

Compared to other diseases that affect the same or less people and are the same or less severe/disabling/life threatening, Lupus research is extremely underfunded!
The last time a drug was approved specifically for Lupus, EISENHOWER WAS OUR PRESIDENT!
ALR is run by a member of the J&J family, and they are extremely generous in paying for all operating expenses, so that 100% of all donations given go directly to the world's most promising Lupus research. The research they do is cutting edge and innovative and for the first time in 40 years, there is finally hope emerging.

The Giants Community Fund uses baseball as a forum to encourage youngsters and families to live healthy, productive lives. The Fund supports Junior Giants summer leagues throughout California, Nevada and Oregon serving over 13,000 children, ages 5 to 18. Junior Giants provides character training and baseball instruction in areas where youth programs are needed most -- inner cities and outlying rural communities. The Fund provides over 70 leagues with the necessary baseball equipment needed for games and practice.

Unique among youth league programs, Junior Giants is a non-competitive program that places a higher value on character than on wins and losses. The Junior Giants Program works to educate kids on both the game of baseball and the game of life.

Alliance for Lupus gets plenty of funds from Johnson and Johnson Company. J&J also funds some of the cruelest animal experiments, not only for medical research but for your household products, not required by law. I place my vote on cruelty free and less funded organizations.
