I recently discovered this site and am so happy I did. I am spreading the word and love to watch those dollar amounts climb all day! I had some of the same thoughts about the animal non-profits, those cute little pictures are hard for people to pass up I guess! Personally, I am voting for the Innocence Project this month. It's a tragedy that the evidence could be there and innocent people are in jail. Of course, like I said, the pictures of those people don't compete with the cuddly little dogs! In any case, I am just happy to have a vote and to be able to help out any non-profit! Thanks for the opportunity!!
--I just remembered that one of my old professors from Lake Forest College does a lot of work with The Innocence Project. I should drop him a line to let him know that the organization is currently on the list. Or is this called a ballot? I have no idea... --Syed

To Jessica, the whole point of sites like this is because people have different priorities, and therefore can vote for whom ever they feel. I think if you do your home work you will find that people tend to vote for animal charities because they get less funding from other sources, ie government funding and there are a lot less animal charities than human charities and to an extent humans can look after themselves better than animals who are at the mercy of man! Human suffering around the world is on the news everyday, whereas animal suffering is only found out about if you make yourself aware as it is very rarely at the forefront of the news. I'm sure giving your views, you would be happy to live in a world where all animals are extinct, whereas in fact I am not and think it'd be a great loss if animals were not on the planet anymore. Whereas I would be quite happy to see the back of some people!!! Sorry for the rant folks, its the first time I've looked at the comments on hear, as some people really annoy me!!!

why do the charities geared towards animals always have the most votes? are animals more important than human lives...human welfare? where in the world are our priorities?

you should definitely keep watering malawi in your charities to vote for, only a $200 dollar donation can build a water pump for a whole community, and they desperately need it.

Hi Heather! I wonder if your charity can get another bite at the apple? Also, please check out IGive.com. This is a website that generates donations from all sorts of on-line stores for various causes...take a look, maybe your group is already included, and if not, maybe they can be in the near future.

To Christine from Md:
Thanks for your post. Admittedly, my husband and I were more excited about seeing a different charity win and were trying to vote for that one as much as possible - as he mentioned, one that supported people more since poverty and people are our passion. We were a bit mystified how wildlife direct could keep surging ahead so well despite our best efforts. Clearly we were competing with your passion and efforts! Great job! The best part is that the money goes toward a great cause no matter what.

yeepers the new ads with sound are a little bit aanoying... especially with 10 of the same ad and they don't all load at the same time. I don't want to be too picky, but if there is any way to keep ads with default sound off the homepage without costing anything, that would be nice. Otherwise, I can certainly tolerate it... I just don't know if everyone will.
--Good Grief are those things annoying. I just wish I knew which network they belonged to. I'll send out some emails right now to see who is going to claim them. Thanks for the head's up--I usually keep my sound off, so I never would have picked up on this. --Syed

Are we raising more money because of higher traffic, or better paying ads? Just wondering!
--It's a combination of the two. Though our traffic is up a bit, our it's not up enough to explain for the almost doubling of our daily revenue. I guess the advertising our being a little more generous now than they used to be. --Syed

I'm not sure if this has been brought up, or is even possible with the google setup sk is using, but would it be possible to have that list of suggestions pop up under the query box as you type the search? This would be a great addition because it is a key point to why I use google, and it attributes to the ease of use for the site. Maybe this is just a little "pet peeve" of mine, but if this is possible, I think sk should try to implement it. Thanks for hearing my two cents.
--Paul,
I agree with you on the convenience of that feature. Unfortunately, that's something that we aren't able to incorporate into the site just yet. But our options are always changing and I'll be sure to be on the look out for the possibility in the future. Thanks for letting us know about your likes and dislikes. --Syed
