To the person who was concerned about the Wildllife Direct surge in votes over the weekend...numerous individuals and groups worked very hard to get as many folks as possible to vote for what we feel is a very worthwhile cause indeed. As for the notion that the donations should go to help people in need...any funds raised by Wildlife Direct (whose adminstrative cost are covered by the European Union...not a dime of donations supports overehead or direct WD costs) go directly to support the rangers who live and work in and around Virunga Park. Their lives are put at risk every single day which is evidenced by the more than 150 rangers who have been killed in the line of duty over the past decade. Not only do these funds support efforts to protect mountain gorillas and other animals from extinction, the other outcomes are truly significant, everything from saving the environment, to providing support for the families of the rangers, to promting peace in the DR Congo overall. Obviously, not everyone will support every cause, which makes something like Searchkindly even more valuable. Although I placed my votes with the WD, I learned a great deal about a number of other worthwhile charities that I will now be compelled to support in the future.

Hey- I added the SearchKindly App on Facebook, and am thrilled to be able to see the thermometer there, however, next to the words there are some (formatting?) symbols & such that make it difficult to read.
Also, does having the App donate, too?
--Sorry about that issue with the Facebook app--I've contacted Kris about this and we are trying to work through the issue. In the meantime, I guess you could remove the app until we figure it out. I'll be sure to let you know when it's working ok, though.
But it's the funniest thing--if you click refresh, then all the information shows up just fine. And another weird thing is that the app works perfectly all the time on my profile (go ahead and friend me to see what I'm talking about).
Regarding the app and donations--just having the app on your profile doesn't directly help, but if you click the link that says "donate now", you'll be taken to a Facebook page that will let you donate (for free, of course). But in addition to the monetary value of the app is the publicity-value; just look at all the people that you are exposing Search Kindly to by having the thermometer on your profile.
Thanks for your support. --Syed

Hey we've raised a lot this month! *thumbs up* Is that a case of more users or more revenue from ads?
--It's actually a combination of both. Our total unique visitors and pageviews are definitely up--but so is the average amount that we are generating per pageview. Let's just hope that we can keep it up! --Syed

Sorry if this has already been suggested, but FINCA International seems like it would be a worthy charity to add to the list

Is the poll fixed? Wildlife Direct just shot up 15 points. I would really prefer that donations go to people in need.
--Hi Allen,
No, I guarantee you that the poll is not fixed. The reason that you saw the numbers change so rapidly is due to the fact that it's a new poll--so every single vote has a significant impact on the results. Later in the week the instantaneuous changes (due to new votes) aren't going to be as sharp. --Syed

Consider putting Camp Heartland on your poll. It's a camp specifically for kids with HIV and kids who know people with HIV, so that they can all go to camp together for a while and forget about the disease. It's sick how some people treat them sometimes. For instance, some of them get kicked out of public pools when the disease isn't even spread that way! One girl (and her FAMILY) was even kicked out of her church! And some people's friends stop hanging out with them when they find out. Remember, "You can't get AIDS from hugging."

This site is awesome! Now people who don't think that they have the time or the moeny to volunteer or donate can help make a difference--searchkindly is a truly exceptional idea.
May I suggest adding "The Innoncence Project" to the list of supported charities?
The Innocence Project is a national litigation and public policy organization dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted people through DNA testing and reforming the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice.

--Great idea! We're trying to figure out how to incorporate that feature into Search Kindly 2.0 --Syed

you all have been doing a great thing ......i think JENA 6 should be on the next poll.... those boys need help and EVERYONE should see the injustice and take a stand and help out where ever they can even if it's just spreading the news on the injustice.
