I think you should include the International Orphanage Relief Society as one of your charities you sponsor! Try going to the Website at www.InternationalOrphanageReliefSociety.org

So what's the deal with that WebGuild contest? Did they declare a winner? Their site doesn't want to load in my browser at the moment...

--I can't seem to find any information about the contest anywhere on the site...and to top it off, sometimes we are listed as first on the results-page, and other times we are no where to be found. Still haven't heard back from the email that I sent them.

One thing about the 'fixed dollar amount' target is that it becomes harder to see that we are growing. Unless we try to set records (eg 2 weeks, 1 week) its less obvious that we're improving. The way it is now, as the donations grow, its obvious.

--Good point.

I don't think that it would be better to raise a lot of money for one year ... The charities count on donations to keep things going now. If you wait a year you're taking donations that are needed urgently. It would also take away from the diversity of programs that SK donates to.

I think the voting system is broken... I can voted repeatedly...

--It's only a minor bug. Though it looks like you can vote an unlimited number of times, it isn't actually recording the extra votes in the logs.--Syed

YOU SHOULD MAKE A SEARCHKINDLY APPLICATION FOR FACEBOOK. it would raise huge support...and even though you have notes and whatnot to post, an application can stay on one's page forever.

--Yes! Absolutely! Great idea. And what's even better is that one of the volunteer programmers, Kris, is working diligently on the project as we speak (type).--Syed

Well I have been voting like crazy, and sent out many blasts on myspace, that were then forwarded as many more blasts...myspace has amazing power...

--A powerful force, indeed. We're number one on that list now!

It seems that Search Kindly's votes have suddenly started to skyrocket on the WebGuild site. I'm wondering whether someone didn't write a little script to rig the voting? And whether this won't disqualify SK?

--Hard to say...get put on a large mailing list or a MySpace Bulletin could also produce the same effect. I guess all we can do is hope for the best.--Syed

Also, in response to Amanda's comment, donating all the money from the year to only one charity would significantly hamper the voting process we have and only benefit one charity per year, not 12.

In response to the comment about a few hundred dollars a month not being enough for a charity - I STRONGLY disagree. Many of the charities search kindly has on the website and on the polls are not huge charities, so a donation of a few hundred dollars is significant. And for those charities that work internationally with programs in India or Africa, a few dollars can buy a LOT. The power of the exchange rate is very very significant - which is exactly the point these charities are trying to prove - a little bit in the US can go a long way elsewhere.

--Well said.
