Hey! I sent an email to tons of people, put the banner (is that what you call the little search thingy?) on my blog, put the url in my various signatures, and put SearchKindly (or is it Search Kindly, which is what I put in the email--oh well) as my homepage! I'm so glad that every time I log on, I'm donating to charity! I do have a question, though. Let's say I get on the Internet and it takes me to Searchkindly and donates money. Then I go to the Proof of Giving page (or the comment wall, or anything else on the site). Does it donate another 1/3 of a cent?
BTW, This is your invitation (by "you," I mean anyone and everyone who is reading this)! http://www.lost.eu/375a2
--Mikaela, you are awesome! Thanks for being so involved in helping to spread the word. To answer your questions, yes, everytime that you click through a new page, we get another fraction of a cent.
**BUT** you must make sure that you going through the pages in a natural manner. The advertisers have sophisticated monitoring systems in place that can detect (and have in the past) fraudulent pageviews. Please don't take offense to this statements--it's definitely not directed at your personally. I just wanted to make clear to everyone (because of an incident that took place in the past) that as much as we all want to raise as much money as possible here, it has to be done on the up-and-up. Thanks again for all of your efforts.--Syed>
The goal of $750 to meet every month is ridiculous. The fact that this site only raises a few hundred bucks a month and goes to one chairty won't make that big of a difference. Why not make a goal of the year, and donate everything to a charity every year?
--Hmm, I disagree. And judging from one of the polls that was up a few weeks ago, my guess is that most of the volunteers here at Search Kindly would disagree with that statement, too. But, there is no reason to just speculate on what everyone else is thinking--I'll throw up a poll to find out for sure. Thanks for the alternative point of view.--SyedAmanda from CT

In regards to the survey about the 501 thingy (whatever it's called) I don't PERSONALLY care, but I think many people do and that it would be in the best interests of the future of SearchKindly to get it.

I'd like to recommend the Campaign for Innocent Victims in Conflict (CIVIC). It directly works to help civilians/innocent people who have been hurt in wars and is working with world governments to change policies. It's a really good organization founded by a humanitarian named Marla Ruzicka who died from a bomb in Iraq. http://www.warvictims.org

I just finished a Step Up to learned how important a 501c3 is. Some day there may be grants that you would want to apply for to help the organization -- without the Federal Status we may not qualify to receive the grants. Preparing for the future -- whether it is known or unknown is important.
PS I probably visit this site more than my college son does and he is the one that told me about it.

That said, I don't know if I would vote for a charity that is actively using thier donations towards advertising expenses...
however... is buying advertisement space on SearchKindly tax deductible being the money ends up being given to a non profit in the end ever month?
--At this point, because we are still in the growth phase of the organization, purchasing advertising space on Search Kindly is not tax deductable. We're hoping, however, to change that by the end of the year. At that time what we plan on happening is that for making a contribution to the Search Kindly (tax deductable), you or your organization will be able to thanked by having your message posted for a certain period of time.

The World Society for the Protection of Animals has been an advertiser on this site for a long time. Isn't it a bit silly to take payment off them, and then pass it on to another charity? Surely it'd be better if we found a new advertiser and maybe even listed the WSPA as one of the charaties on the polls?
--I understand your logic and also agree with it, but there is a slight problem in taking corrective action. Because we are not yet large enough to work with individual advertisers, we are currently working with adveritising networks. The networks are the ones that are in contact with the individual advertisers and we are forced to just work with whatever they send our way. I'm hoping that we have more control over who we work with in the future, but as for right now, it's sort of our of our hands.--Syed

its funny how a month or two ago Baal Dan won the poll over invisible children, but then invisible children made more money b/c the funds were split for that 1st month. even though obviously invisible children would win the next months poll (which they did) b/c their support was so strong. so in the end, the loser, and the richer charity, got more money than the winner, which was the poorer charity in need of more support.
i dont think the funds should have been split b/c that was kind of random and we havent done that for any other months? oh well too late now, but a suggestion for the future i guess
--I tend to agree with everything that you just said. But hey, what can you do? Majority rules, and all. In the future, though, I'm pretty sure that we're going to be staying away from splitting the donations--just makes everything a lot easier to keep track of and easier to understand.--Syed

This is a comment to the recent blog about the Helpers- although it's not a problem for me (and believe me Syed I'm thinking it over), in my area there are quite a few people who I know would be willing to help, but their issue is that they are teenagers, and so they aren't sure if they can help out. Is there anything you already know that they could help out with?
--There is actually a great deal of work that needs to be done, though much of it isn't very fun. As far as teenagers wanting to help out--I have absolutely no problem with that. The only thing that I ask (and I ask this of all of the Helpers) is that they be dependable. Thanks for helping to get the word out.--Syed

I think someone needs to create better Search Kindly tshirts.
--If anyone is interested in doing so, please feel free to submit a new design for a t-shirt. We'll be sure to upload it to CafePress so that it will be part of the collection.--Syed
