10:00 am Chicago time right? Or does it matter?...
--10am (Chicago) is right...and I'm still working on what I'm going to be posting (less than an hour left. I think the time matters because we should try to get as many diggs in as short of a time as possible.--Syed

So we are still doing tomorrow at 10:00 right? Will you post the link for us to digg? So in the meantime, let us all submit and digg every website we know! So that maybe our diggs will be worth more tomorrow.
--Yes! I'm going to put up a post up about what we're all trying to accomplish here and have an intro to the survey results.--Syed

Why did you change this month's goal?
--Because I think we can do it.--Syed

In response to Marie from Florida- there are short descriptions of all suggested charities on the "Who We Support" page (see the "How to Help" drop-down menu).
As for Blood:Water mission:
"This, then, is the Blood:Water Mission, committed to clean blood and clean water to fight the HIV/AIDS pandemic, to build clean wells in Africa, to support medical facilities caring for the sick, to make a lasting impact in the fight against poverty, injustice and oppression in Africa through the linking of needs, talents and continents, of people and resources."
Blood:Water Mission is a humanitarian organization founded by the band Jars of Clay with the goal of providing the clean blood and clean water that is essential to fighting the aids epidemic in Africa. They are raising money to build wells all over africa that will provide clean water and life to millions of people for years to come.
Part of the problem with the AIDS epidemic is the fact that so many Africans do not even have access to clean water (and some villages are miles away from their only source of dirty water), and those with HIV don't have a chance at life with the pathogens they are getting from the dirty water. Don't quote me on it, but I think I heard that 60% of deaths in some of these African villages are a direct results of a lack of access to clean water. The answer to providing clean water is as simple as digging wells. Wells cost $3000 dollars each, but with the number of people that will use each one and how long they last, it equates to an estimated 1 US Dollar = clean water for 1 african for 1 entire year, which to me is a very shocking statistic that should make us think twice about how we spend every dollar that we do. Thank you.
(PS this is irrelevant but my my captcha is "Ahhh", which I find funny.)

Hey could you please put a quick summary of each charity that we're voting for instead of just links to thei sites? It would make deciding which one to vote for SO much faster!
Thanks and God bless,
Marie

Regarding Digg (again!), Since signing up to it (prompted by this site), I have found that its not a bad site itself.
Perhaps users of searchkindly who want to help us make the front page could try digging other stories to increase their own activity. Anyone with a blog, especially, could submit it - it would increase their 'influence' on digg and even gain their blog more readers.
--I like your idea...A LOT. Especially the part about people submitting there own blog articles. And let's not limit it to written pieces; it can be videos and interesting pictures or audio clips, too. Thanks.--Syed

Even though I supported Invisible Children, I am nonetheles pleased with the outcome of last month's vote. Baan Dan is a worthy charity indeed (a sentiment shared by 45% of the voters!). BTW, what's the verdict as to whether or not the runner-up gets a share in the proceeds?
--Invisible Children received 44% of the vote (7447 votes out of a total of 16933) so they will receive 22% of this month's donation, with the remaining 78% going to the winner, Baal Dan (45%; 7601 votes). So to all of you Baal Dan supporters out there, please keep spreading the word about Search Kindly, because it's not last month's donation that Baal Dan will be receiving, it's this month's.--Syed

I had a bit of a read around various sites. It seems that the actual number of diggs isn't the most important thing. I've seen stories hit the front page with ~30, while stories with >100 diggs don't.
This site: http://www.marketingshift.com/2006/9/diggs-kevin-rose-recent-indiggnation.cfm
discusses what effects the rise and fall of stories.
--Excellent article. Looks like all of us who dugg this time are going to have to work on our reputation at the site in order for our votes to carry any weight. Oh well, maybe next time.--Syed
