Also consider Modest Needs Foundation-Small Change: A World of Difference, they work to stop the cycle of poverty before it starts for low-income workers struggling to afford emergency expenses like those we've all encountered before: the unexpected auto repair, the unanticipated trip to the doctor, the unusually large winter heating bill, etc. They help individuals with Self-Sufficiency Grants, Back-to-Work Grants, and Independent Living Grants. Modest Needs has earned the highest possible charity rating from the Better Business Bureau's Wise Giving Alliance. Simply by working together in this very modest way, we can make sure that no hard-working person is ever forced to choose between taking a child to the doctor and putting food on the table.

Any more news about the News event?
Also, on your "Proof of Giving" some months are still waiting on advertisers' money. Can you explain this a bit more please?
--Two good questions. I think I will use them as the subject of a blog post tomorrow. But to quickly answer the second question--we can't donate money to the charities until the advertisers pay us, which usually takes about 45 days or so.--Syed

I personally think charities SK considers should only be human-related. This might be just me, but I think a human wins over a horse no matter what.
Call it a biological drive to protect the genetic community, or species-elitism or whatnot, but humans need PLENTY of help.
--I understand where you're coming from, and I can't say that I really disagree. But the decision to support a charity is something left entirely up to all of the volunteers here at Search Kindly. I mean, who am I to argue with what the plurality of volunteers have to say?--Syed

Another good one to consider is the Patient Advocacy Foundation-a national non-profit organization that seeks to safeguard patients through effective mediation assuring access to care, maintenance of employment and preservation of their financial stability.
Consider helping their Co-Pay Relief Program which helps patients with Autoimmune Disorders
Breast Cancer
Colon Cancer
Diabetes
Head and Neck
Kidney Cancer
Lung Cancer
Lymphoma
Malignant Brain Tumors
Pancreatic Cancer
Prostate Cancer
Sarcoma
Macular Degeneration, and
Secondary issues as a result of cancer treatment

hey so here are a couple really great charities to check out:
HART: http://www.hart-uk.org/
its a british charity, headed by the baroness cox, they go into the unhelped areas, like behind enemy lines etc.
and
We have only today: http://web.mac.com/wehaveonlytoday/iWeb/Only%20Today/Only%20Today.html
this is a very small organization, like a team of 4-5 people, that are very determined and passionate, and with such a small group, a month of searchkindly donation would be awesome, theyre going to south africa this summer working at orphanages and things.
also, it might be cool to do a couple months of the charities that have gotten smaller amounts of support, like have the ballot only be of the charities that havent won yet

You could also make SK your home page. Perhaps someone with some programming skill could make a toolbar for Mozilla or a related browser? SK is a great thing, keep it alive.

Ok, I'm not sure if anyone has gone over this or not, and I'm a little slow with technology, but I just found an easier way to get to SK, even if you have it in your favorites. When I work, I have a bunch of tabs open and search through SK very often throughout the day. I just went took the SK Icon and dragged it in my "links" toolbar. I know its small stuff, but for people like me who are a little slower than all of the computer wizzes out there, it makes it a lot easier.

Wow! I am quite impressed Alliance for Lupus Research puts 100% of all donations directly to researching a cure for Lupus, being their board of directors actually pays and underwrites any and all operating expenses....
