I think that this website is a great way to raise money and to help society!

Can you hack the Google bar to use SearchKindly.org? Or come up with a Search Kindly toolbar?
There are only 2 things holding me back from using it 100% of the time vs. using it 50% of the time.
1. it's hard to go to the site when i already have google toolbar sitting there waiting for me.
2. anything to speed up page load? i put it as my homepage; i'm used to having my instant about:blank though. in reality maybe SK load is as fast as any other web page being loaded.
As a side note, after a search in Google you can still choose images, video, etc. Here one cannot. Not a deal breaker for me more of a process change I suppose - but i like that functionality.
--Regarding the Search Kindly toolbar--we have the next best thing. All you have to do is either upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 or use Firefox. Once you make that change, you can list Search Kindly as your default search engine in the built-in search box. This should hopefully edge your usage up from 50% to maybe 89.3%?
As far as pageloading goes, I think I'm at a loss for a good answer. To be perfectly honest, we're never going to be able to beat a blank page. I mean, sometimes we have content being loaded from four separate locations (our own content, two different ad networks, and the Google search box). But hey! This is what micro-volunteering is all about; the toleration of a minor inconvenience. Good questions, by the way.--Syed

Is the $3 per month that is generated by adding SK as your homepage in ADDITION to whatever money one 'contributes' by going to the site? It has been mine for months, but I was just curious.
Ummm, well, I don't really know how to answer that. Just for clarification, the $3 is an approximation based on an assumption. Here's the math:
Average number of times someone opens a browser in a day = 35
Average amount of money that is raised per visit = .3 cents
35 browser openings (and an opening is equivalent to a visit) X .3-cents = 10-cents
10-cents times 30 days = 300-cents, or $3
So, did that answer your question?--Syed

I still don't understand why Invisible Children is on the poll w/ a chance to receive a share of the money for a FOURTH month now. you've listed so many other charities this month in the polls, it would be great to see one of those many new ones instead. =)
I can understand your bewilderment, but the thing is I already stated that the second place winner charity from last month would be eligible to get listed again this month--and I said that before the winner had been determined. So my hands are kind of tied on this matter. It's just a matter of keeping my word, I hope you understand.--Syed

Some more charities for you:

On an unrelated note:
Have you considered getting a forum instead of just a comment wall? I think it would be a better way to open discussions about the best charities.
--Yes, a forum would work better, but the problem with a forum is that a lot of advertising networks won't pay for ads to be displayed in them. So as much I like the idea, having a forum wouldn't do a lot to further the cause of being able to raise money for charity. What it basically comes down to is that until we are able to sell ads directly to advertisers--and not deal with an ad network--we are kind of limited in what we are able to do. Hope that makes sense.--Syed

I can't find the link to BuyKindly! Is it not available any more?
--Sorry about that, just put it back up.--Syed

I would like to suggest Hamilton Family Center as a charity that you support. They are leaders in San Francisco at housing homeless families and prevent families from being evicted.

This is a purely personal response to the previous post on "Big Name" philanthropists, but I feel like the idea behind "A lot of people doing a little is better than a few people doing a lot" was not to discount their contributions. To me, it's more of a "Just because you don't have billions of dollars to donate on a whim doesn't mean you can't help." Or "If all of us work together we can accomplish great things." Personally, I like it and find it inspiring; it really encases in a nutshell what I think Search Kindly is all about. That's my two-cents!
