Isn't it Empowering the Poor, not the power?

Hey Syed, you may also want to update the
Facebook group for Search Kindly, as it still lists the info for March.

Syed,
As I've reviewed your site further, here is the language, that I would STRONGLY encourage you to add to your site ASAP...
"Our revenue is generated from our homepage ads only. No money is earned per search nor from Google."
Again, I will hold off for a couple of days in contacting Google, the Better Business Bureau, the FTC, etc. to give you an opportunity to add this or similar language.

--Why don't you contact all of those organizations and let me know what they say. You're still a jerk.--Syed

Dear Syed,
Your site clearly implies that revenue generated from your Google search engine is shared with the selected nonprofit.
As a Google advertiser, I am very concerned by this apparent deception.
Furthering my point, at the bottom of your homepage you state that “all of the advertising on your site is donated to charity.” This further leads the user to believe that your organization earns revenue from the Google sponsored links and subsequently donates this money to charity.
I was in the process of contacting Google, the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, ICAAN and several well known Google blogs, but I thought I would first give you a chance to remedy the situation.
I will hold off on contacting these groups for a couple of days to give you the opportunity to clearly state on your site (both on the homepage and on the search results page) that no money is generated per search nor is any money is earned from Google.
- JS
--First of all, how can I "clearly imply" something. Wouldn't that be making a statement? And there's not a single place on this site where I state that we make money from Google. As a matter of fact, there are SEVERAL places where I *clearly state* that our Google AdSense account was terminated months ago. You must not read very well.
And yes, “all of the advertising [money]" actually is donated to charity...but how does that statement "lead users" to believe that we earn money from the links on Google's results-page? As a matter of fact, it is clearly posted on the results page that "This page belongs to Google, not Search Kindly. Click here to go back to Search Kindly and donate-for-free again"
Regarding your threat to report us to the authorities (for what, I have no clue)--be my guest. We're not doing anything wrong, shady, unethical, or even remotely borderline here, so the only thing that is going to happen by you contacting the authorities is that you are going to look like a fool. So have at it.
What a jerk.--Syed

Hi Syed,
Too bad about Digg, but that's not the only way for a site to get popular. Anyway, thinking about all those random people on Digg being directed to the site made me think that it would be really good to have a little blurb permanently on the front page that succinctly explains what the site does. Otherwise, when a new user stumbles upon the site it's not very obvious what the heck is going. I mean, there's a thermometer with a dollar amount and a charity listed, so it's obvious that money is somehow supposed te be getting donated, but it's not at all obvious how or why. I think this is even more important than having the latest blog entry and comment, so it should go right at the top. Perhaps up above the thermometer and the charity. Then you can have an "About the Site" link as well where you can go into all the gory details of how the site got started and where it hopes to go. If there's already someplace where you've stated all this, again it's not obvious to a new user.
Keep up the great work!
--Good point. This was kind of mentioned earlier, but I must have forgotten about it. Time to make this a priority. Thanks.--Syed

Whoa.. I missed something could explain what happened with Digg?

Just an idea for the future. Maybe once the SKarmy reaches the point where they earn more than $200 or so a day, the charity of the month could be changed to a charity of the week. Imagine substantially helping over 50 charities a year! :-D
--That's exactly what I was thinking! Wouldn't it be amazing, though, if we could give away $10,000...a day? Wishful thinking for right now, but who knows what could eventually happen.--Syed

To bad digg buried you, not that I'm surprised.
Your first mistake was saying "Kind of like Digg" in the title, some hardcore digg fans will bury it just because they think it's a digg clone and not even click the link. Your second mistake was gaming the system, diggers hate that and some people buried you as spam even though they liked the site.
You should try again in a few months once people have forgotten about you, and in the meantime you can submit to sites like reddit and netscape. Also bookmark it in del.icio.us
