I voted for Saddlebred Rescue. It is my own belief that animals are just as important as people, so I don't understand why people say "how can you vote for animals over people". We're all here together.

I support various diabetes associations in a bigger way than I do horse rescues. This donation is a tiny drop in the bucket for something as huge as diabetes, but will make a world of difference to SBR.
Giving in both places does not put horses over humans.
Please vote for Saddlebred Rescue!

I keep voting for Saddlebred Rescue. I want the biggest bang for each dollar.
As I posted earlier diabetes runs in my family & my husbands. I will probably have it later in life & it KILLED my grandmothernd5e.
However they will never even notice this small amount of money. Saddlebred Rescue will.

a drop in the bucket for diabetes-ouch. How about waking up a few times a night to test your baby to see if their blood sugar is in range. How about seeing your baby with tubes hooked up to them in the ICU a few times a year. How about having your child learn to count backward from 10 from the glucometer? How about feeling like an outcast in public, the hush when you test your child or give a shot-because everyone blames it on the parents? How about not being able to enjoy your child play at the playground without thinking about "ARE THEY LOW". How about watching your grandpa tear up when talking about his daughter that died from diabetes. How about knowing what most likely will kill your own child-diabetes. I am a horse person too, my family has a ranch. But I value the life of humans over animals. Sick world we live in.

My last comment....I would rather the money be given to a food bank for any local community than a horse rescue. The people adopting the horses are paying $30 adoption fee plus $750-$1000 per horse. The farm looks magnificent and well cared for.
Linda, Read up on the 10 BEST "NOT FOR PROFIT" organizations in America. We are taught not to assume anything! You might be surprised that most of every dollar given to Diabetes Research Foundation goes to research; SO A CURE CAN BE FOUND IN MY SON'S LIFETIME!!!!

Please support the DIABETES RESEARCH INSTITUTE. The Diabetes Research Institute is NOT the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation nor is it supported by it. It is NOT a huge beauracracy. It is a SMALL FACILITY of dedicated researchers that are VERY CLOSE to finding a cure for Juvenile Diabetes. My niece was stricken with JD at the age of 8. She must endure ten to fifteen fingersticks a day to monitor her blood sugar. Blood sugars are volatile, despite weighing every morsel she eats and limiting grams and meals. She needed five or six shots a day. Now, she has an insulin pump attached to her 24/7 and is grateful she has it to avoid all the shots. We are animal lovers. But this disease is extremely serious, almost impossible to control, only manage and complications may start ten years after diagnosis, in her case 18. Many children two years old and under have this disease, 15,000 new cases a year and RISING. There is nothing you can do to prevent JD, it is NOT your grandmother's disease. Please put young children before Saddleback horses, just this once. I can assure you that the Diabetes Research Institute is PRIVATELY funded and needs every penny!

I'm not afraid to say that I voted for Saddlebred Rescue. I understand that Diabetes is an awful disease, I had a close friend die from it at a VERY young age, he didn't live to see 30, but I am giving my vote still to Saddlebred Rescue.
I just like everyone else wants this money to be used to its full potential, DRIF will not notice this money if they win, they won't notice if they lose. SBR on the other hand is extremely small and they work hard everyday to make a difference, not only with the horses but also with the people they come in contact with. Their lives are devoted to their cause, and in a few short years they have went from nothing to a Rescue that is unmatched, there is no other horse rescue program like them out there. The work they have completed is mind boggling and this $596.00 (going by last months funds) will be GREATLY appreciated, and will make a BIG difference. I just would like this money to mean something to the people receiving it....
I for one will keep voting every 8 hours, it will be a small way for me to say "Thanks" to all the wonderful people that make SBR what it is...

The Saddlebred rescue will use every penny for the welfare of the horses, as opposed to the Juv. Diabetes Org which is supporting a gigantic bureacracy with their donations. Also, I'm sure the Juv.D, gets a great deal of Federal Grant $ that animal rescues never see.

Syed - I will send you an email. Thanks for trying to help.
Lou -my youngest nephew, who is now 10 years old, was born with juvenile diabetes. My husband has been a diabetic for over 25 years now and I am so well acquainted with the disease that I hate it. We have most definitely given to diabetes research. The issue here for us is that we also love our Saddlebred horses and we do not see it as a conflict of interest to vote for Saddlebred Rescue. Our hearts and our minds are big enough to want to help the horses we love who are now in trouble. In past years, the scenario has been a little better for horses but right now, horses are in a crisis which has no light at the end of the tunnel. If there is something we can do to help, my husband and I BOTH want to help. Diabetics are allowed to have passions and to love selflessly. His passion and my passion are the horses that actually brought us together and is the reason we are married.

C'mon.....More people are interested in horses than humans? You that voted for Saddlebred ( you know who you are!!!) obviously did not have or know any CHILD (mostly young between birth and 18 get the disease) inflicted with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes. You would change your vote if you did. It is one of the most CO$TLy diseases and the person has it for LIFE (unless a cure can be found).
Please rethink your vote.
