Hi Syed - I tried voting again at about two minutes before 8:00 and it still grays out the submit button and insists I have voted recently. I am very frustrated over this because I want my votes to count. What could be causing this all of a sudden?

--Hi Susan, I'm really sorry about this. Could you email me personally so we can go into more detail about this problem? My email address is syed@... --Syed

I have many family members with diabetes & was gestational diabetic when I was pregnant. This gives me a pretty good chance of being diabetic later in life.
I am voting every 8 hours for Saddlebred Rescue. The other organizations are large enough that they can advertise & have walk/runs, dinners ect... set up to benefit them. The money will be a drop in the bucket of what they bring in each day. Saddlebred Rescue can give health care & feed to a horse for a few months with this money.
This is not putting horses over people. This is putting the money where it can do the most good. Saddlebred Rescue does not have any payroll to pay unlike large charities, their money goes straight to the horses.

I am using my own home computer. I have been voting off and on for awhile and didn't have this problem until today. I just checked and it still will not allow me to vote and gives me the little message down toward the bottom of the poll box about me having voted recently.

--Can you try again tomorrow and let me know if you still have the same problem? Maybe it's just an anomaly...only one way to find out. --Syed

There seems to be a problem with the voting timer. I voted this morning at approx. 9:00 to 9:30 and I attempted to vote again at 6:00 p.m. It would not allow me to vote. So I waited until now, 10:30, and it still will not allow me to vote?? Help please.

I don't think anyone should stop posting what they feel in their hearts, no matter what organization they support. If it annoys some, then simply don't read them.

--Odd...are you using your own computer? Or a public computer? --Syed

Please stop posting your pleas - it's really annoying.

I too have many, many diabetic family members, mother, grandmothers, maternal aunts and uncles, paternal grandmother, and two siblings. One of the loves of my live was a juvenile diabetic. I have cared for diabetics most of my life as a nurse of 34 years. I am in clinical research now as a monitor and have two siblings participating in an NIH long term diabetic study. I support research all of the time. My vote goes to SBR, as I have also been in the Saddlebred world, and agree to what others have said, such a tiny drop in the bucket of about 700 members, compared to thousands in the diabetic foundations. It is a very bad time in the horse world with gas, corn, hay and other feed subtances going sky high. The JDMF does not "feed" diabetes, it raises funds for research and education. We are asking for this small donation for a wonderful organization so that horses who are going to be rehomed in many riding programs are kept fed until their forever home can take them. Amen. PS. I am on a huge diet, so that I can get my BMI down so that I do not have to succumb to diabetes too soon. Anne

There are millions of hungry children who would be delighted to eat those horses, and I'm not saying that to be funny or crass. It's the truth, but unfortunately most people couldn't care less.

If it's a matter of feeding horses or feeding children, I vote children. $384 dollars can provide food and care for a child for a year, which is why World Vision has been geeting my vote. It's a huge organization, but it's estimated 30,000 children die EVERY DAY of hunger or diseases resulting from hunger so every dollar counts. It might not be a lot of money for the organization, but for the 2-3 children fed, it'll make all the difference in the world.

I am an ABA therapist and residential caregiver for children and adults with autism. Autism runs in my family and I have had the misfortune of watching my husband who is a type 1 diabetic suffer through several eye surgeries, high and low blood sugars, as well as scores of other things. We support, donate, and are continuously active in both of these communities. I still cast my vote for SBR. I was once a Saddlebred owner and have also been an active part of this community for several years. I have done my share of watching others suffer through diabetes and autism, but I strongly agree that animals also have a right to a comfortable and happy life. SBR is just a blip on the map compared to these other organizations. They need all the help they can get and for them, a little goes a LONG way. So for those of you out there with loved ones who are impacted with an autoimmune disease or a developmental disability, I sympathize and empathize as I have been there too, but this time I stand for making a difference in an animals life.

I am a saddlebred trainer, I also have a nephew with autism and my assistant riding instructor is diabetic. My vote is going to Saddlebred Rescue.

Small charities such as SBR don't have the funds to advertise for donations, they don't have the deep pockets that a lot of larger charities have. They are working with far more limited funding and smaller donations such as this mean a BIG difference.

I have three rescue horses from SBR in my barn. I love watching the horses and children open up to each other. These "damaged" throwaway horses that have worked hard as beasts of burden, do wonders for the children that are going through emotional issues of their own.

I don't see it as putting horses before people, I see it as which organizations do the most good and which organization will gain the most from my vote.

A $500 donation to Autism or Diabetes research will fund a nanosecond of research. A $500 donation to SBR can buy grain to feed several horses for a month.

Just my two cents, for what it is worth.
