I agree wholeheartedly with Kathryn and truly appreciate SearchKindly being open to ALL bonafide charities. Celena, my apologies if you thought I was referring to you re: people claiming that one charity is better to another. I had not even seen your posts yet when I wrote that. :)

R, I think that as it's not up to Search Kindly to discriminate against one type of charity versus another. That's the entire point behind leaving it up to visitors to vote. Not to mention that of this week's votes, Young Life is in the lead, so it's obviously what the people want to donate money to. I'm not supporting the charity necessarily, just the freedom of us to choose which charities money goes to without editing by SK.

To Celena from ND: there's a difference between not supporting religious charities and not supporting charties for religion. My previous comment reffered to the latter. And, if one charity is devoted to spreading its religion and spending money on that, there will always be other charities for the same purpose without religion included. Why not donate to those, because more money will go towards the cause you want to support?

Hi Penny, maybe I wasn't as clear as I was trying to be. I was not trying to say that I don't think people should vote for animal charities, I was trying to say that if I wanted to be 'petty' (for lack of a better word) I could find things to complain about too. I was not at all trying to say one charity is necessarily better than another, I'm sorry if it came off that way. I love SK and the work they are doing. :)

Are we back to this again?

I thought that we were past the whole "horses vs. people" debate, and had agreed to amicably disagree... I hope that wasn't just wishful-thinking on my part.

I would hate to see SK dragged into that mess again.
Please, vote how you choose, but do not belittle another's choice if it is different that your own.

Yes it does make sense Penny, it absolutely does. :o)

Usually I go for the clean drinking water charities as well here at searchkindly. (Or other developenment andor environmental causes.)

But this round I am sticking with the horses for a change.

To Celena from ND: I obviously cannot speak for everyone that votes, but I give as generously as I can out of pocket to charities that help people in need and my votes on SearchKindly sometimes, but not always, reflect my love for animals. Hope this makes sense. :)

How disappointing to see people disparaging some of the nonprofits or claiming that one nonprofit is more worthy than another.

I wanted to finish my comment. I was not trying to say that animal rescue charities are bad or that people shouldn't be voting for them. I love animals, and hate seeing them abused also. More power to you.
