I would like to submit an organization to be considered for one of the monthly polls. Word Made Flesh is a wonderful organization that focus' on serving the poorest of the poor all over the world, they do so in a way that leaves the people with a sense of dignity and love because they invest in the people they are serving. I think that they would be a wonderful candidate for support. Their web-site is:
wordmadeflesh.com

--Hi Stacy, The only requirement that we have for charities to get posted is that they are 501(c)3 charitable organizations. I did a search on GuideStar and wasn't able to find Word of Flesh. Could you please forward me some more information about the organization? If you could give me their EIN, that would be really helpful. Most of the time, doing a simple search on GuideStar yields all the information that we require, but when we can't find the necessary information that way, we have to ask the suggester to provide as much information as possible. As soon as we can verify some information, we'll be sure to list Word of Flesh along with the other charities. Thanks! --Syed

re: the previous comment

A good answer - saints we are not, yet that you fear to help us speaks more of your heart than ours'.

However, surely it can't hurt to have more info. Can we have a 'bio' page with a brief bio of all 'staff'?

--Yes, the bio-page is something that is definitely in the works. And there is really no reason why we can't publish it right now, we were just hoping to release it with the launch of the new site. Just a couple more weeks and we should be good to go. By the way, eloquent retort. Is that a quote from some place, or your own words? --Syed

please fill out your website - i would like to know who you are and where your located before i use your service - I have no idea if your entire staff is full of ex convics or saints

--There are no saints on staff at Search Kindly, that's for sure. Actually, I'm not so sure that we have any staff at all, being that the term "staff" implies employment. And employment implies compensation. And everyone who has anything to do with Search Kindly is an unpaid volunteer. So we must be a bunch of ex-convicts. Use the service at your own discretion because who knows what kind of unthinkable actions you might be taking part in by using Search Kindly. Donating over $9000 to over a dozen different charities and helping to create awareness on scores of different causes? Gasp! How could we do such a thing! --Syed

So we need to think of ways we can boost the views (and more importantly, SEARCHES on this website)...

The first thing we have to address is why it maybe isn't working:

For the most part, it hasn't had much media attention: is there a way we can tell different magazines, TV shows, etc about this? I think many shows (for example, "The Ellen Show" - I know she does a lot of charity work) would be happy to tell their viewers about this site. Oprah has approximately 49 million viewers a week (over 16% of the US population), and if just 3% of her viewers (about 1.5 million people) used search kindly once, it would raise about $49,000 dollars. Imagine the benefits if she told her viewers to use it EVERY WEEK. (By the way, this is assuming that about 1/3 of a cent is donated per view). If 1.5 million of her viewers did this once a week for a year, we'd raise about $17,885,000.00 dollars per year!!!!

I know that all of the attempts to get this at the top of "Digg" have failed...perhaps we need to submit it in a more clever way?

--Some serious publicity like either Ellen or Oprah would be Huge. Does anyone have any suggestions on how we can do that? I've tried emailing a few times...obviously without much success. Maybe if we set up an email campaign? Ramadev, Sofia, and I were talking about putting together an email list of people who would be interested in doing simple tasks on behalf of the site, like emailing talk shows and newspapers. We're also going to need volunteers to request Public Service Announcements for when we receive 501(c)3-status, but we can worry about that later. --Syed

I would like to suggest you add the 501(c)3 Kiva to the list of possible chairities. Kiva helps people from all over the world make loans to poor people in third world countries. This is their website: http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=home

I heard about searchkindly.org from a magazine called New Moon, and I think its an amazing website! It does the same things as Google, but it donates money to charity!

Request you to add Muktangan Deaddiction Center, Pune, India to your list of charities.
Their websites are -
http://www.muktangan.org/default.html
http://www.aarogya.com/muktanganmitra/mission/index.asp

Muktangan has been involved in the task of creating a drug-free society for the last 12 years. They have come a long way from humble beginnings largely due to the support received from organizations and individuals like us. To date they have treated about 14,000 patients from all over India. The Ministry of Welfare, Govt. of India recognizes Muktangan as a center of excellence. Last year Muktangan became the first ever deaddiction center in India to receive the ISO 9001-2000 certificate. Over the last twelve years they have evolved a treatment model suited to Indian conditions, which has yielded encouraging results. The institution has also been actively involved in Awareness Programs and Training Activities in the field of de-addiction.

--It looks like a great organization. Unfortunately, though, our charter limits us to supporting only 501(c)3 organizations. If Muktangan ever starts an American branch, please let us know. --Syed

I think I know why the traffic didn't double: I use SK as a homepage but google to search - since the results page didn't have ads so I might as well use google.
My guess is that I'm not the only one.

--Hmm...but what about now? Being that the search results have our own ads on them, do you think that people would be more inclined to use Search Kindly for general searching? --Syed

Yes, I failed to memtion charitynavigator's $500k floor (which was why I didn't include the stats for Tibet Aid and a few other charities in my original post). My apologies.
